Dr Eleanor J Brown BSc(Hons) MSc PhD FGS FRGS

Eleanor was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2020. Eleanor has professional experience in geoscience and heritage conservation, and is a civil servant working in the natural environment sector. Eleanor is also an editorial board member of two geoscience journals.
Nick Dodson BA(Hons)

Nick Dodson was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2009. Nick has an extensive business experience including ownership and operation of two private main line charter train companies. He has been involved in the construction and operation of private and public miniature railways and is currently Chairman of the Heywood Society. In semi-retirement Nick operates his rail media company providing transport related research and programming for broadcasters.
Trevor S Nall

Trevor was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2002 and was Chairman of the Trust between 2004 and 2016. Trevor retired from a successful engineering company as Managing Director. Trevor is also the Chairman of the Groudle Glen Railway in the Isle of Man.
Timothy E Pennock BEng(Hons) MSc cfs(g) MIET

Timothy was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2009 and is the Trust's Chairman. Timothy has professional experience in systems engineering and project management. Timothy is a former aircrew instructor with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Timothy is a Chief Engineer for a global aerospace company.
Dr Henry F Winstanley MA(Cantab) MSc DPhil

Henry was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2019 and is the Trust's Head of Finance. Henry has professional experience in civil and structural engineering, project finance, and academia. Henry is a Director of a UK property company.


The Lord Faulkner of Worcester 

Lord Faulkner became a Patron of the Downs Light Railway Trust in January 2021. Lord Faulkner is an active working peer in the House of Lords. Amongst his various involvements with charities and voluntary organisations, Lord Faulkner is currently the President of the Heritage Railway Association.


Heritage Railway Association

We have been a corporate member of the Heritage Railway Assocation since 2019. The HRA represents Heritage & Tourist railways, related Museums, Tramways, Cliff Lifts, Railway Preservation Groups and related organisations.
National Council for Voluntary Organisations

We have been a member of the NCVO since 2020. The NCVO champions the voluntary sector and volunteering by connecting, representing and supporting voluntary organisations.
