Project Submits Planning Application

In December 2019, the Downs Light Railway Trust submitted a planning application to Herefordshire Council for the development of the Downs Light Railway!

Four generations stand ready to start!

The application was submitted on behalf of The Downs Malvern who are the landowner. This application was prepared in-house by the trustees Timothy Pennock, Henry Winstanley and Nick Dodson. The application involved providing drawings, plans, surveys and compliance against the local authority's development policies. If approved, this project will aim to replace the existing structures on the Hoyland Down terminus with two new buildings.

These buildings will offer modern teaching facilities to enable the Trust's beneficiaries to expand their practical and design skills from the activities that maintaining a railway offers. The development will also make the Downs Light Railway more accessible. We hope that in time more young people and adults will gain inspiration to further pursue their interests in engineering and technology. Details of the planning submission can be viewed on the Council's planning website (herefordshire.gov.uk). More information will be provided as the project develops. The project team can also be contacted via email.
