Project Achieves Planning Milestone

Hits: 238

On the 12th February 2020, Herefordshire Council granted planning approval following a submission by the Trust in December 2019.

The success of this application is a testament to the effort and due diligence of the Trustees who put the application together, complying with the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework and Local Development Policies. The trustees are also very grateful to the continued support and endorsement from the Headmaster and governors of The Downs Malvern who enabled this application to be submitted.

This project will aim to replace the existing structures on the Hoyland Down terminus with two new buildings. These buildings will offer modern teaching facilities to enable the Trust's beneficiaries to expand their practical and design skills from the activities that maintaining a railway offers. The development will also make the Downs Light Railway more accessible. We hope that in time more young people and adults will gain inspiration to further pursue their interests in engineering and technology.

Details of the planning submission can be viewed on the Council's planning website (herefordshire.gov.uk). More information will be provided as the project develops. The project team can also be contacted via email.
