Initial Crowdfundraising Target Achieved!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported this project!

After three days we successfully achieved our initial target and became a trending project in Aviva's "popular" category. We are very grateful to organisations and individuals who have shared this project with friends, family, and work colleagues directly or through social media. A superb effort! This now gives us the funding to get the Establishing New Roots project underway.

The crowdfunding project remains open for another 30 days. We can continue to receive pledges towards our stretched goal of £25K. All pledges will go towards our Centenary Development Programme and will help us raise the necessary contribution funds required for grant applications.

Achieving our initial target opens the door for match funding. Aviva gives each employee £25 to nominate towards a project after the 23rd February 2021. The crowdfunding period closes on the 23rd March 2021.
With any development project, it is important to leave the natural environment in an better state. Our Centenary Development Plan will be achieving this by working with the local orchard group to improve the historic orchard through which the railway runs by planting more local varieties of fruit tree. Work is also planned to improve the orchard habitat by expanding the range of ecological niches for other species including insects and mammals. This biodiversity net gain will contribute to the Biodiversity Action Plan for Herefordshire, within the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Downs Light Railway are also working with the local orchard group to ensure opportunities for education and learning about the natural environment through orchard improvements are realised.

If you have not done so yet, please visit our page at and support us by making a pledge.
